The game’s plot begins dramatically. Batman’s friends receive a message from him, prepared in the event of his death. Without the Dark Knight, the city quickly descends into chaos, so the task of guarding the streets falls to four of his pupils.
An organization known as the Court of owls, which has been secretly shaping the history of Gotham City for centuries, also plays a key role in the script. Its members prefer subtle manipulations, but are equally effective at using violence when needed, thanks to an army of assassins known as Claws. During the game we can face classic Super-Villains such as Penguin, Two Face or Mr. Freeze.
Game Mechanics:
In Gotham Knights, there are four characters to choose from – Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood. Each has unique equipment and fighting style, as well as separate skill trees and costume enhancement options.
Most of the gameplay mechanics are arcade. The player explores the world and fights enemies using a dynamic system that allows the use of a wide selection of special techniques. The game also uses a stealth approach. Strong RPG elements were added to those typical action games. Characters and enemies have levels that determine their strength, and a key role is to improve the character’s statistics.
The game uses a system of scaling enemies. It means their level of experience is aligned with what our character has. Interestingly, however, the development of enemies results in more than just a strengthening of their statistics. They also gain new abilities and attacks.
